BSG in HD

Via Engadget: Microsoft has just announced a new deal with NBC-Universal to provide BATTLESTAR GALACTICA eps in both Standard-def and High-def, on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace. This is apparently a US-only deal.

Reader Glenn just tipped us off that the first few eps of BSG season 4 are about to air on the Universal HD Channel as follows:

Saturday, Jul 19 8:00 PM
HE THAT BELIEVETH IN ME (repeat at midnight)

Saturday, Jul 26 8:00 PM
SIX OF ONE (repeat at midnight)

Saturday, Aug 02 8:00 PM
THE TIES THAT BIND (repeat at midnight)

Saturday, Aug 30
6:00 PM HE THAT BELIEVETH IN ME
7:00 PM SIX OF ONE
8:00 PM THE TIES THAT BIND
(repeats at 10PM, 11PM, 12AM)

ETA: Please see wisteria's helpful advice about UniHD in the comments...very important...

Getting real tires of these US-only services. Hulu, clips on Sci-fi's web site, this, etc.

There are more people in the world.

After the last few episodes of S4 I forgot just how awesome some of the earlier episodes were.

This makes me wish I had an xbox360 or the UHD channel.

Just a heads-up that although the UHD website has BSG on at the times you gave, Comcast says that "Jericho" will air at that time. I checked Charter and DirecTV via Zap2It, and they said the same thing.

If anyone's planning to watch/record, they might want to double-check their own listings and set a recording for "Jericho", just to be safe.

As for Anonymous's comment: it's all about copyrights and advertising. SciFi and Space have the rights for first broadcast. While I'll certainly agree that more international coverage would be wonderful, NBCUniversal (via Hulu) is not legally obligated to provide online viewing in countries where the viewers cannot directly impact the advertising that pays for the programming. If you want to see BSG earlier, contact your local TV networks and demand that they renegotiate their contracts with NBCU. (I don't have a *right* to watch Doctor Who the same day it airs on the BBC, and I know full well that when I download it before the SciFi broadcast four weeks later, I'm doing so illegally. And yes, I'm IP-blocked from watching Doctor Who at bbc.co.uk, because I'm not a UK citizen who paid for it through taxes and TV licenses.)

"U.S. only" apparently does not include Hawaii. I checked my local listings. Lame

Sorry you guys feel slighted. I remember Season 3 coming out in Europe way before here in the US. Soooo....it looks like everyone gets screwed by the corporate hacks equally.
