The Emmys are frakked (again)

AICN reported that Battlestar Galactica didn't make the list of ten finalists for Best Drama. So, what did make the list of ten finalists?

Boston Legal
Damages
Dexter
Friday Night Lights
Grey’s Anatomy
House
Lost
Mad Men
The Tudors
The Wire

Mostly shows well regarded by critics, by and large. I've seen House maybe a dozen or so times, and Hugh Laurie is great. I saw Dexter a few times and liked it a bit. I watch Boston Legal when I'm looking for wry topical humor. Plus any Shatnerologist has to watch Denny Crane from time to time. But, if I were voting off of this list, I'd be torn between Lost and Mad Men. I'd probably vote for Lost. But, Mad Men is going to win. Unless all the voters are on drugs, in which case Grey's Anatomy wins.

While I was reading AICN I noticed that Harry Knowles reports that he had a visit with J.J. Abrams and was shown a few roughly cut scenes from Star Trek. It sounds promising.

Grey's Anatomy is gonna win . Obviously. They like comedy shows...

Frak the Emmys . And as much as I love Lost (and I really do), it doesn't deserve to be on the list (although, if Grey's Anatomy is on it, pretty much everything deserves).

Sci-fi shows traditionally get shafted when it comes to the Emmys. I think the people running the Emmys don't take sci-fi seriously enough compared to other shows. This isn't much of a surprise, which is why I don't really care much for the Emmys to begin with.

I hope Mad Men wins...it seems to have the momentum.

While yes, BSG has no real shot at Best Drama or Best Actor/Actress, why all the doom and gloom? Didn't this show just get writing and directing noms a year ago?

^^^ And did they win?

@gcg: Win? Against The Sopranos final season?

You're joking, y/y?

:P

The idea of Mary McDonnell's work this season somehow avoiding nomination is completely absurd and should serve as further proof that the modern Emmys, just like the Oscars, are nothing more valid than a popularity contest.

Lost is my favorite show, even past BSG, but this is just ridiculous.

As Tigh would say, "Are they out of their godsdamn frakkin' MINDS!"

Of course, I'm not surprised. Hollywood fraks it up again, as usual.

Do you think the fact that it was only a half season is the reason? Perhaps the nom will come next year.

If not, we should sick Starbuck on them.

I've always felt that BSG was better during the mini and the first season. It's gotten too drama heavy for my tastes as it's dragged on, but it's still the best TV show produced all decade.

So I can understand it not winning the award for best drama. But to not even make the top 10 list? They're trying to tell me that there's 10 shows out there that are currently doing drama better than BSG?

Even from the perspective of someone that hasn't dug all the heavy drama on the show lately, this is just preposterous!

"I've always felt that BSG was better during the mini and the first season. "

Then why, WHY?!?, do you keep watching it, reading this blog, and feeling the need to discuss it even now?

Arrrrgggghhhhh
