For selfish and not-so-selfish reasons I'm glad NBC/Universal/SciFi step in on this one. While I can understand the disappointment of British fans, I wasn't thrilled with the poster's attitude. While SKY may chip in for some production costs (I'm a bit unclear if they still do or if that hasn't been the case since Season 1), BSG is still considered a U.S. show and I think it's logical that it airs here first. The new episodes of 'Doctor Who' air in the U.K. weeks before they air here and I see that as only fair since it's a BBC production. In a perfect world, every country could have access to a show at the same time, but we'd be lucky to see that happen in the next ten years.
I don't watch commercials even when I watch it on regular tv. I have no guilt about seeing the show wherever it airs. I have a mute button and I use it.
I'm also happy to pay for dvds when they come out, and that is how they get my money. Let's be real about this stuff, it's a new world now.
Given that The Sci Fi Channel seems to be walking a path towardsglobaldistribution, I don't think we are too far away from a same-day broadcast schedule across most of the world.
