The Ties that Bind Reactions

Alan Sepinwall and TV Squad provide their take on The Ties That Bind. (I'll put together my own thoughts on the powerful episode later on, but for now, feel free to share your views in the comments here. Tomorrow we'll post the Hulu embed once it's online.)

Edward James Olmos did a Sci-Fi Q&A.

Here's the promo for Escape Velocity posted by SevorTB:

I agree. I watched almost every promo before it premiered but I've stopped now because I know too much about what's going to happen. I watched the promo for Six of One and after promised I wouldn't again. I wnet back today and looked at the promos for The Ties That Bind and was extremely happy I didn't watch them. I'm done, the promos give away WAY too much.

I was extremely disappointed in the episode. I still like where everything is going, but I feel like they are slipping on the details, expecting us, viewers, to just accept anything. There has been evidence of this already, but this episode in particular was a serious offender. I hope the show gets back on track a bit after this because I'm not used to suspension of disbelief when watching BSG.

I thought the episode was weak

I was disappointed in this episode; especially the writing. Starbucks line "I don't want to fight I just want to frak" made me want to puke. I hope this isn't a taste of what the entire season will be like.

I disagree, i thought it was amazing but I can see where everyone's coming from. The episodes are starting to feel a little rushed as if they're leaving out the details that need to be in there and make this show what it is just so they can move the story along much more quickly. I think maybe they shouldve done two more seasons making the fifth season the last one so they could take their time and give us an even more amazing ending. I do have to say though that Michael Nankin did an amazing job with directing the episode. Gave it a very distinct feel and is one of the main reasons I thoroughly enjoyed this epsiode. Besides any epsiode where someone as annoying as Cally gets killed off, is a good episode for me haha. Sorry Cally fans
