A Bit of Strike News

BSG's Co-Exec producer Mark Verheiden got tossed out of The Wynn casino in Las Vegas:

Dateline: Las Vegas. Me, Jane Espenson and some nice fans gathered to pass out some informational WGA leaflets to passing Consumer Electronics Show journalists inside the Wynn casino this evening. That is, we WERE passing them out until hotel security told us to, well, leave.
Thanks, WatchingBSG for the tip.

You may have heard that the Hollywood studios have been announcing many new media deals at CES. (And next week Apple will have some Hollywood deals of their own to report at MacWorld San Francisco.) Of course it must be non-profit social justice work, because the studios keep telling us and the WGA that there's no money in the internet.

But, in the meantime the WGA has signed a deal with United Artists, and there are rumors of other side deals in the works with independent studio Lionsgate, and LucasFilm.

Deadline Hollywood Daily and United Hollywood as always have further updates.
