The AMPTP begins to crack up

Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that United Artists, now run by producing partners Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner, has signed a deal with the WGA -- essentially the same deal David Letterman's Worldwide Pants agreed to. For this deal to happen, UA's parent company, MGM, had to allow it to happen. And so the AMPTP is fuming at MGM.

Many doubted the WGA's new "divide and conquer" approach to individual companies instead of the AMPTP as a whole would produce results. But, thus far, it seems to be working, and exposing fractures within the AMPTP moguls camp.

Now if only NBC/Universal would make such a deal...
