Cast and Crew News

Esai Morales in JERICHO

We have more news about shows that may help get us over our end-of-BSG-withdrawl symptoms: Esai Morales has joined the cast of CAPRICA to play Joseph Adama (father of William Adama), along with Paula Malcomson.

Paula Malcomson in DEADWOOD

The Hollywood Reporter mentions that DOLLHOUSE, co-starring Tahmoh Penikett, may get placed on Fox’s schedule beginning midseason rather than the fall. No word in that article on VIRTUALITY, a pilot that Ron Moore and Michael Taylor have been working on with Fox. (HT Whedonesque) ETA: the Foxblog responds a teeny bit. ETA2: others say fall still possible.

Speaking of pilots that Ron Moore has worked on…lost in the notices the other day of Malcomson’s casting for CAPRICA were casting announcements for WAREHOUSE 13. This is a series Moore and BSG writer Jane Espenson have worked on in the past. I seem to recall Espenson saying she is no longer working on it during this PopCandy podcast, but I haven’t heard anything detailed. For you FARSCAPE fans, Rockne O’Bannon is also apparently involved. ETA: Mo Ryan actually discussed WAREHOUSE 13 with Moore in a recent interview, where he confirmed neither he or Espenson were still working on it.

Ask Ausiello mentions Katee Sackhoff in a new column:
Question: I'm glad Katee Sackhoff didn't get the role on CSI. She's too good for that show. Where will Starbuck go next? Joss Whedon's Dollhouse? — Pinkxsunlight

Ausiello: All the major Dollhouse roles have been cast, so I doubt there's a place for her there. At the Sexiest Stars party, Katee would only let on that she's been reading pilot scripts in search of a post-BSG project, although she acknowledged that Starbuck will be a tough act to follow. She also relayed a very funny story about what she plans to do immediately after BSG wraps this summer — and I saved that juicy little morsel for this week's Ausiello Report vodcast.

The vodcast is embedded below – but warning: during the lead up to Ausiello’s "morsel" is something that I wish I HADN’T HEARD. I suspect the spoiler whores among us won’t be surprised, as it feeds into a theory many of us have heard before (I’m looking at you Angela!)...And the morsel? You BSG fan(atics) have heard it already.

We have heard a rumor second hand, that Michelle Forbes will be appearing on LOST before the season ends. *joy*

The latest Frakking Toasters comic interviews Galen Tyrol…*snicker*

The BATTLESTAR GALACTICA character Number Six is competing for this year’s Red Eye Best Character on TV tournament. As you may recall, Starbuck won last year. Vote early, vote often!

That is awesome. The actor they chose to play Joseph Adama is perfect. He is exactly the way I would have pictured him. Now, they need to find the perfect kid to play young Bill Adama. They need to get this one right, too.

This is awesome news. Several weeks ago I watched Esai Morales on Real Time with Bill Maher and thought to myself that he would be the perfect Joseph Adama. Plus, he worked with Edward James Olmos on the PBS series, American Family.

Yeah, it's great casting. And TPTB did a fraktastic job picking the younger "Husker" Adama for RAZOR...so I figure they'll do just fine for the kid version too.

Esai is a good actor and the perfect choice. I don't think that Paula lady is all that attractive however. Also, I have serious doubts about Caprica: no Cylons, no space battles, no major conflict, but we'll all give it a chance.

@radii: I am eagerly awaiting CAPRICA. I like all the characters, politics, and hi-tech drama on BSG and will be expecting more of same on this new show. It seems like something for any BSG fan who enjoyed the S3 ep UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

Their first female castmember is also suitably kickass and therefore has the ProgGrrl's approval. ;)
