Bionic Woman still not cancelled. Jeez.

On the internets, there are so many haters and so many people on deathwatch for BIONIC WOMAN, it makes my head spin.

Yet rumors are rumors – and both TVGuide.com and WatchingBionicWoman have been contacted by the show’s Powers That Be, with statements denying these rumors.

From TVGuide.com this week:

…a spokesperson for NBC Universal Media Studios tells TVGuide.com, "Bionic Woman has not been canceled. Production was shut down due to the WGA strike. In addition, we have not completed the initial 13-episode order, which will be the first order of business when the strike ends.

Ho ho ho. Don't be hating.

Why does trash like this survive yet Journeyman gets cancelled?

Well, I didn't consider it trash at all. Just a troubled show that might need a bit more time to get its sea legs. Then again, I need to get my ALIAS/FEMME NIKITA fix somewhere.

I haven't been watching JOURNEYMAN, so I cannot comment...

Bionic Woman is trash, a friend of mine still watches it and he has no idea why. Sackoff was the best thing on it.

Rabid is right, this show will probably make it and QUALITY stuff like Journeyman will just get canceled.

Sucks.

Well, there may be a number of reasons why NBC might try to fix Bionic. I don't know. Maybe David Eick is telling the suits that it's his plan to make Katee the focus of the show? One can dream.

I think the show had 3 different showrunners all named Jason. If they had some stability in the writing staff, and got back on track it might be worth something. The pilot ep by Laeta K. was really good.

PG: You've gotta see Journeyman sometime. It was sometimes uneven, like any network show in its first year, but when it was cooking it cooked.

Kevin McKidd (Rome) was so good in it.
Alan Sepinwall had a great review of the final ep:

I wrote a hefty recap on Journeyman's finale too, as that's been one of my main show recaps this fall on my blog.

Thanks for the link, ProgGrrl, and for the defense of Bionic Woman. Like you and Logan I still think this show has a lot of potential and I hope that NBC gives it a chance to bounce back.

Bionic Woman had some potential, and I tried to like it, but it has too many problems, that clearly come from a case of "too many cooks spoiling the soup" to really make it "fixable."

From the premise of our heroine working for a Halliburton/Blackwater type operation, to the fact that her character just wasn't that interesting, to the tacked on "kiss the boy" subplots, all that bullshit about her stupid sister who was boring too, and throw in the fact that the action sequences just really werent very good, and you have a show that had all the potential in the world, and managed to piss it away, thanks to all sorts of factors.

Journeyman I liked better, but it had problems too, of a similar stripe - they drowned an interesting, overall show story arc with a lot of side distractions that never really added to the understanding of the characters or the short term plots that much. It did have some interesting plot potential and ideas, and I wish they'd kept it around and given it a tune up.

Life, however, was the surprise. On paper, it looked like a dumb idea for a show or at least Raines on crack. Instead it was a heck of a show, and it's been picked up for another run. Excellent stories, an intriguing concept, and Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi kicked ass.
