  1. Good to see Ron finishing up the show with his hand. Already knew this was going to happen (could have predicted it anyway), but nice to actually see it happening.

  2. Proper bookending of the series. He wrote '33', the first series ep too.

Michael Rymer directs all the premier and finale episodes too :)

  3. The last time Olmos and Taylor collaborated we got something special... Daybreak seems an odd title for the finale given we've heard it's all doom and gloom so maybe it will be more cathartic than depressing.

On an off topic note the first half of season 4 will get an Australian dvd release on the 3rd of December. The synopsis and no. of discs indicates that Razor will be included on it (Frak!) On a positive note its priced fairly reasonably for a half season.

  4. Something important must happen in episode 414 for RDM to write and direct it. Final cylon reveal perhaps?

  5. I hope so. While I love and enjoy Bsg to death, I really hope they push past the 'Who's the final cylon?' issue rather quickly, as it detracts from the larger ideas and story at hand.

That said, I still really want to know who it is!

  6. I can't wait to see what John Dahl does with The Oath. The Last Seduction was just on tv again recently, and no one does noir-ish double-cross and conflicted, untrustworthy and complicated characters better than him. The Oath must have something to do with the Final Cylon pledging alliance to one faction or the other.

  7. Interesting info! I agree that I think 14 will have the final cylon reveal (Aaron Douglas had said at one point that he thought it would be revealed before the break or close to it). Also looks like #13 and #19 are going to be Starbuck-centric eps. (This also jibes with the rumored spoilers I've seen).
I too am excited to see the title of the finale seems hopeful.

Agreed. A Weddle-Thompson-Nankin trio can only mean Kara has a large role in that particular episode.

  9. I believe 419 also makes use of music by Bear McCreary in new and exciting ways. Bear wrote on his blog a few months ago:
    http://www.bearmccreary.com/blog/?p=349

"I’m here [in Vancouver] for two weeks helping out with Weddle and Thompson’s new, unusually musical episode. I am observing on-set instrumental performances and even composing original music each night, churning out sheet music pages for the next day’s shoot. And they are allowing the show’s score to evolve in an unprecedented manner. Frak, this upcoming episode may perhaps redefine the role that music can play in narrative."

So, that's something to look forward to.

  10. The Final Cylon reveal was filmed for episode 411, the first one back, as it was the last thing they filmed before the strike and they wanted to answer that question if it turned out that was the last-ever episode. My understanding is that it was pushed back a few episodes once they knew the series was coming back.

  11. Interesting. Where did you get that info from? I'm simply curious, I'd like to check it out.

  12. @master

"Daybreak" may indeed be more cathartic than doom and gloom at the end, but I expect that BSG will hold true to the old phrase: "It's always darkest before the dawn."
