RDM's podcast

Ron Moore's illuminating podcast for episdoe 418 DEADLOCK is now online.

It's definitely worth a listen, plus Ron during the podcast explains what happened to Racetrack, Skulls, Selix, Narcho and all the other mutineers.

  2. I've been wondering about those mutineers... I realize that these are secondary characters, but having dedicated two episodes to the mutiny, I'd think even some casual mention of these characters' whereabouts would be in order.

In the podcast, Ron also mentioned that he wasn't really involved with "Deadlocked" or the next two episodes as he was working on the finale. I know many were disappointed with "Deadlocked". I hope the next two episodes bring it as we're officially ramping up for the finale.

  3. If anyone who's listened to the podcast would care to post the most interesting tidbits, I'd be ever so grateful and promise to only say nice things about your comment posts in the future. Also I will refer to at least one of your future insights as "brilliant."

  4. nice to know about the mutineers, too bad they didn't mention anything about it in the series but it did make sense. sounds to me like Ron is trying to make sense of the show himself since he hasn't been as involved with it as he was in the past, definitely some strange and sometimes confusing directions that the show has taken lately but now i have faith that Ron will make it come together in the end...i hope.

  5. true that suicideblondjay - i think most of us could tell that RDM wasn't involved just from watching the episode. (sorry ms. espensen, i love your writing, just not for BSG).

i am dreaming of a finale as good as the miniseries!

  6. This was a very good podcast containing a great many interesting observations about "Deadlock" as well as season 4 and the show in general. I highly recommend spending 45 minutes on listening to the file.

The most revealing and shocking part was when Moore reflected on the... er... aborted Liam storyline. It was the other who orginally had the idea of making Caprica-Six pregnant. When Ron asked them where this storyline would go, they shrugged. But he thought it was cool, so they did it.

What a shame to see them use a pregnancy and miscarriage as cheap emotional triggers. The character that made the Holocaust possible deserved more than being reduced to a reproductive being in the final stretch.

Too bad "Daybreak", Caprica and Virtuality forced him to have a rather hands-off approach to many of the last episodes, resulting in even more unevenness, inconsistencies and OOC than season 4.0

Thank the gods that - just as ProgGrrl just wrote - Thompson, Weddle and Nankin always know how to make great television.

  7. That *was* a good podcast! The main reason I listened to it was for his take on what happened to the rest of the mutineers. I asked that question during Mo Ryan's Q&A with Ryan Mottesheard and Jane Espenson and, while I was really happy that she picked my question to ask, I wasn't satisfied with Ryan's answer - I like RDM's explanation a lot better!!

    Only 4 more to go!

  8. Yep, I pretty much agree with what you are all saying here.

I wish we had learned about the mutineers' fate on the show itself. (Maybe it will still get mentioned -- don't know.)

I did find it interesting that Ron said he was busy with Virtuality, Caprica, and Daybreak, and so didn't get very involved beyond a few notes. At the very least that could be confirmation that something was amiss in the process for Deadlock since it wasn't getting his full attention.
