Often lending the DVDs I made with my TiVo and my DVD Recorder. Many of my doubtful friends have seen the power and the glory that is B-S-Frakkin'-G and are now converting their friends as well. So, I agree that the traditional Nielson model is broken, but they'll figure something out. The whole tv landscape will probably look a lot different in 10 years.

Now I doubt I will be converting anyone to Caprica. I'm sorry, this just doesn't sound like a real show to me. It sounds like an Appendix, or a bonus track. If it were a show about the first Cylon War, maybe I'd be more excited. But a drama about work that occasionally references the BSG Universe sounds pretty boring.

I hate to pre-judge a show, especially one that is a part of a show I really love. But I just don't know what they're thinking here. I think they should plan on getting cancelled, and plan for a short run. Make a small story that is self contained that they will be able to end with some class.

Anyway, I hope I am really wrong and that Caprica turns out great.

J JAMAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20273746.post-20802889095499898502008-08-29T02:31:00.000-07:002008-08-29T02:31:00.000-07:00I've been tempted to blame BSG's "woes" (if they a...I've been tempted to blame BSG's "woes" (if they are that) on SCIFI and their (lack of proper?) advertising.

But then I pause.

I realize that BSG was doomed from the start, due to the title. Even till this day, the majority in North America imagine "BattleStar" as the old retro show. People expect that, no matter what an ad tells them. Only a tiny minority actually differentiate between versions.

So I don't really blame SciFi.

Instead, I wait for 'Caprica'. Assuming, as Proggrrl hypes, that it's as good as BSG...its life will be completely in SciFi's hand.

SciFi will get to mould the image from scratch. That's all the audience will know.

No blaming the title or unfair expectations.

So I hope they know what they're doing...Cuz I wants me RDM stories!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20273746.post-51223143262947038942008-08-27T06:48:00.000-07:002008-08-27T06:48:00.000-07:00Funny you should bring that up, anon...evidence ha...Funny you should bring that up, anon...evidence has very recently appeared that Hulu is working on that.ProgGrrlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06241425484095464878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20273746.post-20521114608363238472008-08-27T06:39:00.000-07:002008-08-27T06:39:00.000-07:00Let's hope Hulu finally allows international viewe...Let's hope Hulu finally allows international viewers before 4.5 starts, too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20273746.post-83397813009700290112008-08-26T22:57:00.000-07:002008-08-26T22:57:00.000-07:00I hope the execs at USA/Sci-Fi will be much more c...I hope the execs at USA/Sci-Fi will be much more careful with the trifecta of trailers they release prior to each remaining episode of Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi/Space/Hulu) ... they give away the store with these combined massively spoilery clips. It is an art to to make a "teaser" - you do just that, tease. As for Caprica, no doubt it will be high quality, but will it translate to Sci-Fi fans if the artificial intelligence aspect of the story is not prominent? We can think of the "ratings" for BSG the same way the Obama people think of the "polls" which are based on calls to landlines.radiihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06271430506982033059noreply@blogger.com
