S4 x 07: The Road Less Traveled

The full episode has been posted on Hulu and SciFi.com -- this was a fantastic ep with quite the cliffhanger ending for a mid-season show.

Wow.

I kinda felt like BSG got its groove back with this one. Still a lot of grokking and talking a la Star Trek with the Final Four, but I've come to expect that.

I'm more curious about this Leoben bizniz. And Kara really seems to have lost her noodle - ilke that one guy said she's no longer Starbuck, she's a tad wackadoodle.

What interests me the most though were the interactions between Sharon Agathon (a Cylon) Leoben (a Cylon) and...Anders! (A CYLON!). At times it felt like Sharon was no longer really even a Cylon any more - her actions and character are so distinct from the other copies, its' like she's truly become an individual human.

Who can shove fiber optic cables up her veins.

Next week looks fascinating....

Yes, it did feel like Galactica got its groove back with 'Road' but the Baltar subplot still isn't working for me - it feels like a forced way to illuminate the polytheism vs. monotheism story thread they've got going. What is left unexplained so far is why the Oracles from the multiple god system we've seen in a couple pivotal scenes (with Deanna on New Caprica and Kara on the Galactica) seem to understand the Cylons so well and don't seem the least bit threatened by their monotheism.

'Road' was much better than I expected, but I expected the Red Shirt to die and it was the woman instead - I guess he'll get it in part II.

Part II looks amazing from the trailer, finally the Hybrid becomes central to the story, and it appears that it was not the 1s, 4s and 5s that got 86'd but the 2's, 6's and 8's, leaving only the few on the Base Star they'll visit in part II of 'Road' and Caprica Six, Head Six, Natalie, Sharon "Athena," Boomer with the 1's, and the Leoben on the Demetrius.

Isn't it interesting that the Cylon red-eye ships can recognize the Final Five but the "skin job" models cannot?

My review of Part I of 'Road' will be up on Galactica Variants
