Watching Season 4 Online & Legal Downloads

There are many, many burning questions racing through the minds of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fandom as we sit out the mere 9 days left of our one-year hiatus.

Here is one I am pondering at the moment: what sorts of legal streaming or downloading access can we expect to get for season 4 episodes?

TPTB obviously want to address this (at least for the US audience), since they have announced that the Season 4 premiere will be streamed online a full 9 hours ahead of its broadcast premiere on April 4.

One would hope that in this day and age, the TV nets would be thinking a little harder about how to deliver their products to eager viewers across the globe.

Amazon Unbox is certainly going to sell each ep – in fact they already are offering What The Frak?, BSG: Revealed and BSG: Phenomenon as free downloads. But that does not include us Mac users. Hulu is now open for business…will NBCU/Sci Fi Channel take advantage of their shiny new platform and stream eps there? And what about iTunes...will Steve Jobs and Jeff Zucker kiss and make up in time for BSG season 4?

Meanwhile, there is the new deal NBC made this year with Pando Networks. This service, which promises to deliver the good (HD files) with the bad (lots of heinous DRM technology and “watermarking”), has no start date as of now.

This page on Sci Fi Channel’s site, Sci Fi Rewind, is pretty new and has several season 3 eps posted for streamed viewing. Will this be a place to go for online viewing in the USA?

It is also worth noting here that for our US readers, the entire back 10 eps of season 3 are all available for streaming right now. Sci Fi Rewind has RAPTURE through DIRTY HANDS; and Hulu has the rest through CROSSROADS PART 2.

Dude, don't get me started. I have season 3 from Itunes that I'm still pissed about not being able to port to DVD.

Uh oh. Well the full screen on those looks fine...as does plugging your ipod into a TV set (non-HD).

So I assume you would prefer streaming? Or..."other sources"? ;)

Any legal way for overseas users?

this is actually really crtical for me, as I (gasp!) don't have cable this time around (comcast in SF is a total ripoff).

I loved iTunes simply because it is easy, I have FrontRow on my shiny new Mac, and the download is relatively fast. But of course, NBC had to have a hissy fit and I really do NOT like the TOS for Amazon.

Sure, BT is available, but it's not as reliable as legal alternatives...hulu is fine but, well it's hulu...

There are no legal ways for me to download copies of BSG in Canada. Amazon Unbox is USA only, as is iTunes (unless I want Hockey Night in Canada). Even the SciFi channel tells me to jump off a bridge when I try to access BSG videos.

It's no wonder the MPIAA calls Canada a pirate's haven - they've barred access to all legitimate online sources.

Amazon Unbox + TiVo

Nothing beats it. (Yet.)

james is right. I've never been one for the bootlegs, but they're denying legal access. So . . . there might be a torent in my future.

has anyone heard of tvu player? It's a program you download to your computer (I don't know about mac, tho) that broadcasts regular tv channels like scifi and spike. I don't know what's available outside the us, but it's possible that this would work.

C"mon! I'm dyin here!

Does anyone know of a resource for an actual download that will work on a Mac? Amazon seems to have had no problem with cutting us Apple folks out of the equation.

Help!
