New Media

Damon Lindelof, co-creator of LOST, and Marc Cherry, creator of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, march on Disney and explain the New Media situation:


It's pretty simple... The writers are asking for 2.5 cents of every dollar the Corporations and Studios make off of internet downloads (like on iTunes) or by selling advertising on steaming video.


The Office, Lost, and Battlestar Galactica are certainly among the most viewed shows on the internet. In fact it's often been said that The Office was saved from cancellation thanks to being on iTunes and finding its audience.

Viacom just started putting all of The Daily Show online, yet they won't pay a proper residual to the writers, a situation Jon Stewart explains perfectly:
